Prof. Maddux served for several years as the Area Chair of the Organizational Behavior Area at UNC Kenan-Flagler. During his time on the faculty at INSEAD, he served as Area Chair, PhD Coordinator, as well as the Director of the INSEAD Social Science Research Centre in Paris.

Professor Maddux has also served as an Associate Editor at Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and has been on the editorial boards of several journals as well, including the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.
